St. Patty’s Day

Today is St. Patrick’s day so hopefully you are wearing green. You probably know a lot about St. Patrick’s Day. But I bet you don’t know why green, or shamrocks. It is green because Ireland is called the emerald isle and emeralds are green. The first color was actually blue but they decided to change it. It used to be a religious holiday celebrating Ireland’s patron saint. ┬áThe shamrock is used because it was chosen as the national emblem of Ireland. It is the emblem because of a legend that St. Patrick used it to demonstrate the trinity, which is a religious symbol. Did you know the earliest leprechaun legend is 20 years old.
